For this shoot, Shell wanted to create a lifestyle series that highlighted their in-store retail, featuring real employees.
We traveled to beautiful Alabama to shoot at a Shell station that we felt looked iconic, and neutral enough that it could be anywhere on America’s open road.
Shooting with a real family and non-models in a working gas station meant we had to be flexible with our schedule and adapt throughout the day. Our photographer Mathieu Young used this flexibility to create an energy of improvisation and play, and the team was able to capture real smiles and candid moments that translate in the images.
We left set with a rich library of images, and had time to stop at Waffle House before heading back to LA.
